~Flower Urn Button Roll~ This sweet little Button roll has some really nice textures and colors. The linen on the front is a good caramel color and so nice and nubby. The striped wool inside is a little unexpected but really good. And the button bag is a completely different texture and really pops on the wool.
I bought this piece of wool when I was at Notforgotten Farm in the Fall and I've had it squirreled away ever since. I knew it was going to take a really special piece to use it.
The button bag is made from a piece of my very favorite cotton fabric.....and I'm so sad it's almost gone. It's hand stitched and worn and aged with walnut crystals and it cinches closed with cotton string.
I've filled it with a hand full of old mother-of-pearl buttons and pinned it to the inside of the Roll with an old rusty safety pin.
The outside of the Button Roll is 20 count nubby linen with a flower urn sampler done in hand dyed cotton floss. It rolls closed and ties with ribbon. I've added 2 old mother-of-pearl buttons to the top where the ribbon is secured to the Button Roll.
The Button Roll measures 5 3/4" wide by 13 1/2" long, the Button Bag measures 5" wide by 7" high.

~Carriage Horse Sewing Basket~ These sweet Sewing Baskets are quickly becoming my favorite little things. And I love piecing the fabrics together. I stitched on a piece of hand dyed linen with wonderfully muted colors of hand dyed floss. This Sewing Basket comes with a sweet little Slipper and woolen Strawberry Pinkeep.
How sweet....a little horse standing next to a stem of pale blue flowers.
I used 2 different fabrics.......a small tan and cream check homespun
and a reproduction brown floral cotton. And I finished all the seams with tiny little X's.
Inside I've lined the Basket with tan cotton velveteen and added a sweet little Slipper and Woolen Strawberry.
I've stitched on a little piece of linen for the top of the Slipper and the base is a wonderful blue grey wool.
The colors coordinate perfectly with the little carriage horse and flowers.
And the sweet little woolen Strawberry Pinkeep is made from a nice piece of nubby cream wool. The top is tan and brown check wool. I've added a little mother-of-pearl button on the top with a long piece of hand dyed pale pink silk ribbon with 2 old mother-of-pearl buttons on the end. It's stuffed with sawdust and I've finished the seam with tiny little X's.
The Sewing Basket measures 5 1/2" in diameter by 2 1/2" high, the Slipper measures 5 1/2" long by 2 1/2" wide by 1 1/2" high and the Strawberry measures 4" long and the ribbon measures 7" long.
This is one of my signed and dated hand stitched original designs.

~Persimmon Needle Roll~ I love working with wool in the winter. And this little piece has been in my stash for a pretty long time just waiting for the perfect project. I love the color of this wool....it reminds me of a plump ripe persimmon. And the little Strawberry is just too cute. The Needle Roll folds closed and fastens with a hand stitched buttonhole and old mother-of-pearl button.
Inside I've stitched on a piece of tan nubby linen with good muted colors of hand dyed cotton floss. I also added a little patch of tan and cream check homespun to hold pins and needles.
The tiny little Strawberry is stitched to the point of the Needle Roll. It's made from little bits of wool and stuffed with sawdust.......and I had to finish the seams with tiny, tiny X's.
The Needle Roll measures 4 1/2" wide by 10" long not including the tiny berry. The berry measures 1 1/4" long. This is one of my hand stitched original designs.
